About the GT500 out running a helicopter... that's not so hard to beleive... Durning the filming of the Vanshing Point Remake they used a helicopter simalar to the one in Gone in 60 to film the movie. At one point in the filming they had the Challenger run up to over 140 MPH and it actually started to out run the Helicopter they were filming the scene with! |

Most helicopters only travel at about 80 mph or so. If you watch those police chase videos on TV, it's not uncommon for a car to kick up past 100 and outrun the helicopter. |

The only way a car could completely outrun a helicopter, is if it had about 20 miles of straight road. Remember, copters don't have to slow down for turns... :P |

I'm pretty sure most Police helicopters can cruise well past 100mph... |

I don't think there is a single documented case of a person getting away in a car once the police have arial support overhead. Basicaly, you have to outrun the chopper, and the visual range of it's cameras and crew, and from high up, in an urban environment, that's just not possible. |

I'm not speculating or anything, here. I've WATCHED it happen. No matter how fast those copters run, I have watched cars and (more often) motorcycles run ahead of them. They don't *completely* outrun them (they do have to slow down), but on straightaways the copter will be struggling to keep up. |

actually he really lost the helicopter by driving through the airport, which could SORTA work, but they'd pick him back up after he left the area. |
