Ok. I wasn't thrilled with this movie either, BUT I must defend one point. IT WASN'T RICE! Ricers do NOT mess with engines! These cars were modded. That's all i'll say in it's defence...otherwise.....it sucked. |

Well, that was certainly the audience the movie catered to. Many of the cars had a lot of cosmetic work with minimal underhood mods, even if the Supra, Eclipse, and a few others did have real engine work. Even with the nitrous And while I wasn't familiar enough with the engines to tell for sure in the brief underhood shots they had, more sharp-eyed viewers have noticed that many things that they claimed the cars had were missing. For example, the "turbo" Eclipse may have been naturally aspirated, although I'm not sure on that one. |

it was turboed. it's hard to see, but it's there. I know the guy who owns it. Plus you can see the GS-T emblem... |

It was NOT a turbo Eclipse. It was originally a 1995 RS that someone threw on a blitz kit and robocar sides. It's just a neon engine with a CAI and some headers. Jesus, you can even see the rear drum brakes. If it was turbo'ed, don't you think they'd make a big deal out of an FMIC? Yeah. It's not a turbo. |

mullet, which scene are you looking at? There were two Eclipses, a real GS-T with a whole lot done to it, which was in the scene in the stadium parking lot (going real fast) and generally in the scenes invovling moving. I know a guy with a car that is either that car, or an exact duplicate, right down to the license plate... the one they blew up and win a few other shots was the RS you described, I don't think it ran... |

There was only one bad ass car in the whole movie, the Challenger at the end. I know it wasn't real blown and all supped up but it still looked sweet! Its good to see a good ol' American muscle car beat a little 4banger. |

um, big block. It was a '68 Charger with a '70 front end, not a challenger..
(edit) oh yeah, supras are inline 6s, btw. And they can be frighteningly fast.

The real point is that old school muscle cars are better than imports, well in my opinion at least. How come this movie led people to believe that rice is cool? I love how that car had to use NOS just to keep up with the Charger. I mean just to be able to keep up with it. Shouldn't it show the real power of American V-8's? Plus, whichever car is fastest, I would much rather drive a mean looking Charger than a ridiculous looking....whatever the hell that thing was.... |

It was a supra. And you're missing the point. The charger was presented as the ultimate car, which is exactly what it should be. And I maintain those the main cars in the movie were NOT rice, because, unlike ricers, these guys actually did MAJOR work on their cars. (maybe not in real life, but it was presented as such) And in reality, that Supra would have not been able to keep up with a pro-street blown hemi charger. But I digress. |

I suppose i'll add my 2 cents. The rediculous manner in which these cars were presented screams Rice to me. They say that their races are a 1/4 mile at a time, but you see the speedo showing 140+mph....come on!! Not to mention they are racing in a downtown area thru tons of traffic lights and hit no one. One scene depicts a driver typing in values on a laptop (at 140mph), not looking ahead... while the floor pan falls out. Because of sheer speed i guess. Rediculous. But, that is a good title up there.... i also like "The Fake and the Flatulent" |

Actually it looks like the supra won by a hair to me, but it was supposed to be a tie, I think. But yeah, the race scenes were dumb. |

454 Nova, you too have your defintion of "rice" messed up. Ricecars are cars that are ment to look fast but in reality are not. These cars were fast. Keep in mind, they used several cars for every car in the movie. (hence the argument over the Eclipse) As for the Supra....those cars are very fast. You say it took NOS to beat it(true statment) but if the Charger had NOT been blown I think the Supra would definatly have beaten it. The Supra is known for killing our V-8's.(correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's what it has been known to do.) So it's all a matter of how you mod the car. |

Even stock, Supras compete very well against V8s. When modded to the point that that supra was, it would slaughter most v8s. Please note that I said most. There's always someone faster than you. |

Ok so if that race sceen was exaggerated to make the cars look faster, and they often used slow cars made to look fast in the scenes, then how can that not be rice? Sounds alot like Hollywood rice to me, they just have better and more expensive computer generated stickers and wings than the rest of the rice boys. I have realized that the arguement of whether or not the Supra would beat the charger is really stupid, if we had those two cars built for real we could see, but if you have ever watched the behind the scenes deal, they wheren't really racing, it shows them both driving down there at like 40 then the Charger ramping. |

The cars that were racing WERE fast and modded. The slow ones were used for stunts(blow-up of Eclipse/crash of Charger) and for the standing sceens. But that's just how the movie was done. The final product, however, was NOT rice. |

It may not be rice, but it sure influences the whole "rice is cool, I can beat a V8 if I just put a wing on my Honda" mentality |

i think some people have become so wrapped up in rice-bashing, anything and everything they see with a wing or a sticker is rice. I personally will admit that I liked the cars in the movie. they just looked cool. what I DON'T like is the silly budget ricers, much like the ones portrayed on this site...unpainted body kits, ridiculously HUGE wings, and more stickers than a nascar stock car. THAT is what rice is. I just think some people are afraid to admit they liked, even just a little bit, of this movie for fear of being ridiculed by their peers (which is backed by the weird fact that even though nobody here likes this movie, they all paid attention enough to nitpick every little last detail, which btw is damn near impossible if you've watch the movie only once) so lighten up, who cares about the exaggerated speed physics, who cares if "that supra would've been blown away in real life". You guys miss the point of movies...ENTERTAINMENT. |

That's true, and I was entertained by the movie, matter of fact I loved the movie. And I don't hate all imports, I think some can actually be made cool-looking with a SMALL spoiler and a not to outragous body kit. I don't like the people who see this and go 'hey wait a second, i have a stock Eclipse but I just watched Fast and The Furious so I think I can beat anything'. I think certain imports have something to be said about them, something in the way they look. I don't hate Supras or Skylines, something that had potential to go fast, but I hate it when people rice out Honda Civics and Accords!! Why, they are family cars? Nice family cars and all that, but they are just family cars, not race cars. So I don't hate all imports, but I do believe in one of the fundamental laws our American rodding culture is based on "More Cubic Inches=More Power". So I say that two cars with the same mods, the one with the larger engine and more cylinders will most likely win. It just seems common sense |
